Here is all you need to know about Quick Quote

Primer Sealer and Undercoat

  • Primer is a paint product that allows finishing paint to adhere much better than if it were used alone. For this purpose, primer is designed to adhere to surfaces and to form a binding layer that is better prepared to receive the paint. There are many different primers to different materials such As Wood, Metal, Concrete, Plastic and etc.

  • Sealer helps seal items that have trouble being sealed. Using this will keep it sealed for a very long time, also, keeping it away from being exposed by the environment which could create movement.

  • Undercoat makes the surface ready to receive the finishing coat, to achieve a good quality result the use of undercoat is necessary.

Wood Care and Stained Work

Preparation for New Wood:

  • Clean down with turps to remove grease and dirt.
  • Fill nail holes or defects with wood filler to match bare wood.
  • Sand along the grain to smooth a finish with a suitable sand paper.
  • Remove dust.

Preparation for Old Wood (if not damaged):

  • Clean down with turps to remove grease and dirt.
  • Sand to a smooth finish.
  • Remove dust.

NOTE: If it’s old wood that has been damaged it must be stripped completely to bare timber.

New woodwork where necessary, apply a single coat of Cetol Aktiva or Cetol BL Aktiva on new softwood timber that requires extra substrate protection against fungal attack.

Apply a priming coat of Cetol HLS plus for hardwood or softwood in selected colour. Where necessary, repair with Componex WR Flex. Apply 2 finishing coats of Cetol HLS plus. For best results, it is necessary to keep the interval between applications of these coats limited, not exceeding 1 month.

Maintenance depending on the condition of the finish, clean, degrease and sand thoroughly. Repair defects with Cetol HLS plus in the appropriate colour and apply one full coat of Cetol HLS plus, overall.

Why do we need to Paint

House painting is important for many reasons. Obviously, a good paint job beautifies, adds character and personality to your home. Just for that reason it’s important to take sufficient time planning which colours, shades and paint styles you want to decorate your home with. But, the question is why do you need to paint, well it’s simple, painting your home will serve as a primary line of defence against weather, insects and other damages that could occur, so painting will bring a good home maintenance.

Preperation - Internal and External

Internal Preparation: Never apply any primer, sealer, undercoat or paint on dirty surfaces, you’re just wasting your time and money. Preparation is the most important section of painting which makes the huge difference in the final result and gives that long lasting painting job.

The procedure in which it requires for Internal Preparation:

  1. Peeling off loose and flaking paints.
  2. Cleaning all the dirt, mouldy and greasy surfaces with sugar soap and proper detergents.
  3. Patching necessary area with specified filler.
  4. up gaps & cracks with flexible materials.
  5. Sanding before each coat for smooth bedding and better binding.

External Preparation:External painting is totally different to internal painting in every way, from preparation to finishing. Therefore, we need to pay more attention on external preparation, for example, in external painting we need to deal with really tough environments, direct sun, rain and dirt.

The procedure in which it requires for External Preparation:

  1. Peeling off and scrubbing loose and flaking paint.
  2. Washing down all painted areas with sugar soap and gurney.
  3. Dust free new surfaces.
  4. Patching necessary areas with external filler (e.g. Builders Bog).
  5. Replacing loose and missing window putty.
  6. Fill up gaps & cracks by external flexible filler (sikaflex)
  7. Sanding before each coat for smooth bedding and better binding.

Problems - Internal and External

Internal problems can be caused by Water (stain & moisture), Age (Cracks, Gaps, Peeling and flacking paint), Ventilation (Mould, Oil and Greasy Surfaces, Smoke Damage) and Bad Tradesman whom could have damaged or destroyed surfaces due to using improper material and procedures.

External problems can be caused by Age (Cracks, Gaps, Peeling and Flaking Paint), near bushland/Forests/Trees (Moisture, Tree Stain, Gutter blockage, Dust and Ventilation problems), Insects (Damaging Materials e.g. Timber, Spider Webs and Nests), Movement (Materials relocating, Cracks and Gaps), Rain (Rust, Rotting timber and many other problems which occurs with the surface reacting to the water), Sun (Peeling & Flaking Paint, Dry Surfaces) and Wind (Dust & Moisture).

Finish Coat

The last coat applied in a painting. A finish coat is formulated specifically for environmental resistance and appearance. There are too many different materials to choose from for painting so we have to choose the proper finish coat paint to achieve certain job. The finish coat must be separated for external and internal use because of environment differences.
